Off-label use issues:

Metformin is approved as a treatment for type 2 diabetes, but is not approved as a treatment for obesity. Since it is not approved for use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or Japan, there is insufficient medical evidence.

Risk of Side Effects:

Gastrointestinal side effects are common, with diarrhea being relatively common, but nausea, abdominal pain, and abdominal bloating have also been reported.

◦ There is a risk of vitamin B12 deficiency.

◦There is also a rare risk of a serious side effect called lactic acidosis.

Many people experience such severe side effects that they stop taking the drug.

Weight loss results vary greatly from person to person:

Studies have shown that the average weight loss is around 2-4.5kg, but this varies widely from person to person and may not work for everyone, especially if combined with lifestyle changes.
